A strip of the specimen is bent around an apparatus untill it snaps and the location of the snap is observed either with the naked eye or under a microscope. One of the specimens was properly cleaned and went through the correct procedure for plating. The other sample did not undergo any cleaning preparation and did not remain in each bath for the correct period of time.
